This page contains information on a generic wall designs. The designs contained on this page are not a comprehensive list. Interbloc's unique flexibility means that Engineers are free to design innovative solutions which suit the individual circumstances of their clients. 

The information contained on this page is designed to be first and foremost demonstrative of the capabilities of the Interbloc system. Each project will require applying these basic principles to the unique set of circumstances and environment of the project.

Gravity Wall

Interbloc™ Gravity Walls are suitable solutions for low height retaining wall structures with favourable loading conditions. The high mass of the Interbloc™ units provide sufficient overturning resistance in their own right without need for extra reinforcing. In these situations, Interbloc™ walls can be constructed without vertical reinforcement and on relatively minor foundations. Often the foundation sizes specified by the Engineer are for practical purposes.

Cantilever Wall

A Interbloc™ Cantilever Wall consists of vertically reinforced block elements anchored into a concrete foundation. This concrete foundation is usually a substantial element cast into excavated ground at the base of the walls. The tendency of the wall to “tip over” is resisted by the foundation element by moving the point of overturning further out from the wall face. The foundations can also extend back into the retained material and this assists resistance to over-turning by resisting the foundations tendency to rotate.

 Tie Back Wall

Interbloc™ Tie Back Walls make use synthetic matting cast into the blocks which, at the time of installation, is connected to corresponding matting extending back into the wall backfill. It makes use of a structural anchorage of the upper level of the wall back into the backfill material in retaining wall applications. These tie back elements reduce the tendency for wall over turning and help reduce the demand on the foundation element.

Unreinforced Tieback Wall

Interbloc™ Unreinforced Tie Back Walls extend the benefits of Gravity only walls by further increasing the resistance of gravity walls to overturning. It achieves this without using a vertical reinforcing element. Interbloc™ Unreinforced Tie Back Walls make use synthetic matting cast into the blocks which, at the time of installation, is connected to corresponding matting extending back into the wall backfill. It makes use of a structural anchorage of the upper level of the wall back into the backfill material in retaining wall applications. These tie back elements reduce the tendency for wall over turning and help reduce the demand on the foundation element.
